Hi Fediverse πŸ‘‹

the refurbished version of switching.software keeps evolving ... and I keep on immersing myself into it without posting updates on the progress πŸ˜…

I guess it's best to have a look for yourself πŸ™‚

This preview gets updated regularly πŸ™ƒ Just like the main "todo list" here:

@switchingsoftware
What platforms would you suggest for wiki hosting? Including system admin service. And a solid, easy to use wiki content admin interface?

Also for website writing (and hosting), with tools as good as, say, Wix? And a reasonable though not extravagant selection of templates.

Hi @kensanata and @mike_hales πŸ™‚

Sadly, I don't know any wiki hosting providers. πŸ™ I only know of some software, that might be of interest:

bookstackapp.com/

🌐
wiki.js.org/

I will boost it, maybe someone knows a provider for these (or similar) projects πŸ’»

Hi Fediverse πŸ‘‹

today, our site swiso.org joined the initiative to keep .org-domains non-profit.

We host our site on a .org domain. Furthermore, we heavily rely on services hosted on .org domains - as for example @codeberg

Please consider supporting the initiative by spreading the word or signing the letter:

Hi Fediverse πŸ‘‹

as mentioned before, we are reorganizing the codebase of the website. If you are curious concerning the progress, I'm happy to share the current status:

pages.codeberg.org/swiso-en

Powered by @codebergΒ·s new static pages. Special thanks to supercell for migrating all the google-related pages. If you also want to participate, you can do so here:

codeberg.org/swiso-en/website

Also feel free to leave your feedback here πŸ™ƒ

There's a #Funkwhale app for Android now, called #Otter. It's still kind of in beta, but it looks really cool and has a lot of potential.

Really stoked about the potential this might have with Author profiles and podcast support! The Funkwhale project has those things on a roadmap for future development.
The albums view of Otter, a Fun…

Hi Fediverse,

@edi is asking for a FLOSS alternative for Amazon Wishlists, as we are heading towards Christmas πŸŽ…

Does anyone have a suggestion? πŸ™‚

Thanks @switchingsoftware for rebuilding the site! If you're out there anonymous switching.social creator, you rock, and we miss you.

@aral Hi, thanks for pointing out the ambiguity of my profile description concerning the person behind the new account. See my pinned post (the one I'm replying to here) for the whole background. πŸ€”

I will update my profile info as soon as I can - will take a few days though as I can't do this via app. πŸ™‚

@Framasoft any alternative to Tresorit? Safe, privacy-concerned, E2E encryption, remote but accessible.

Any good alternative to Google groups ? It's for a friend of mine, @kaulian, who is looking to change the software used by the parents of his son's school. Maybe you know one @switchingsoftware ?

Hello #fediverse! I'm starting a Spanish version of @switchingsoftware 🀟

If you speak English and Spanish and want a more #privacy friendly and #opensource world consider giving the project a look πŸ˜‡

Head over to our GitHub repo, share with friends and spread the world. let's help some hermanos out! πŸ’ͺ

Hi Fediverse πŸ‘‹

let me tell you this: Thank you all for the feedback, wishes and support offers so far! I'm very optimistic that we will get this project continued together ⏩

Before the next big steps, I will take a break for a few weeks. So, might get a bit silent here. I'll try to visit once in a while but internet access could be rare sometimes πŸ–

While I'm away, you may also have a look at @privacytools and their software section πŸ“‹

Hi Fediverse πŸ‘‹

this is for everyone interested in supporting switching.software πŸ™‚

Here is my proposal on how to reorganize and improve the codebase of the website:

codeberg.org/swiso-en/website/

I would really appreciate your feedback - comment right here or on the issue πŸ—¨οΈ

Also, who would like to join the effort? And don't worry, we will figure out the "how" together - soon after the proposal is community-approved 😁

Hi Fediverse πŸ‘‹

let me sum up the situation around

Around September 20th, the original (anonymous) author of switching.social shut down its website and all related Social Media accounts, including mastodon πŸ€”

This info reached me (@tobias ) the next day via my German version @swisode .

As there hasn't been any sign of life since then, I restored the website and created this new account. Right now I'm out of spare time to work on it, but that'll change in a few weeks πŸ™‚

Hello Fediworld πŸ‘‹

most of the website is restored - have a look:

switching.software
(or swiso.org for short)

I want to thank @gemlog for preparing the web-archive version and @LuKaRo for extracting the missing pages from the Google Cache. Would have taken so much longer without you two πŸ™‚
